One size doesn’t fit all – know your customer
In hospitality the person who pays your invoices may be the owner/barista of a very busy café or restaurant – so don’t call at 10am or lunchtime! Larger businesses will have an accounts payable department so you can call any time. Knowing your customer is key. What makes it easier for them to pay you? Calling on a particular day or time? No problem. Send an sms? No problem. Some people are only available on certain days of the week or certain times of the day. Get to know this, and in the process don’t take offence if a busy barista is blunt with you. They’ve got a gazillion caffeine deficient patrons to attend to, and some days, you’re one of them.
